Looking for a silent hsf

I was wanting one of those zalman flowers, but after reading reviews, I need something that cools better than that. I have a 1.33 tbird that I leave on 24/7. It needs to be a lot quieter than it is now with it's volcano 6cu.

I know that coolermaster has a very quiet hsf coming out, but what are my other options?

look for any of the newer style heatsinks that use an 80mm fan. you can get a lot more airflow and surface area, yet still use a slower speed quieter fan. Examples: Vol 7+, Alpha PAL8045, Swiftech, Thermalright AX-7, etc...

Looking for a silent hsf

Hah.. quiet maybe but silent is impossible..

With only a 1.33 you could get get more than enough cooling with an Alpha 8045 with the 12db (extreme quiet) Papst fan or if you want a flexible setup you could get one of those (Blue or Pink) Enermax adjustable fans... I know many people with one of these setups and they love them..

Personally I use my modded Taisol 760 with two quiet 60mm (Sanyo Denki's but the quieter 20db versions) and this setup probably cools as well as even the newer larger HSF's mostly because of the airflow being directed right at the center of the sink without a dead spot like an 80mm fan has in the middle..
Honestly though I'd still go with the Alpha PAL8045 with an adjustable fan to keep the setup flexible but still as quiet as you want it with no need to add a rheostat or something to it..

Where can I get a pabst 12 dB fan?
also, has anyone here used the volcano 7+? It has a rotation switch that can be set to 3000 rpm/ 24 dB.

edit: damn, the volcano 7+ is expensive, but it would do the job. . . I'll wait for coolermaster's "silent" solution.

I use an Alpha with a 92mm enermax adjustable fan. When running my cpu at stock speed I can run the fan at it's lowest setting and get great temps and is very very quiet. I overclock so I have my fan set to about 1/2 and it is still really quiet and cools great. It's an awesome combo!

The Zalmans are better than the reviews say. A 6000 copper model will do fine with your setup and be virtually silent. The fanmate that comes with it allows you to adjust the fan speed for lowest noise or max cooling -- at the latter setting, it will be moderately noisy, but effective for hard gaming. At the min, your PSU fan and HD will be far noisier.

I have an SVC gc68 and it's very quiet. The stock fan is 28dba and it keeps my duron 1.2 very cool. It's rated up to an xp1800+. I went from a volcano 6cu+ which was unbearable, now I barely know my computer is on. Cheap too. under $15 at both case-mod.com and
svcompucycle.com. My friend has a volcano7 on his xp1900+ and it keeps his at 43C at the lowest setting with some AS3.
