Looking for a replacement for a KT7-RAID - Is MSI K7T-Pro2A good?

Well, I can't get my new Athlon system working satisfactorily, so I'm getting to the 'replace bits one-at-a-time' stage. Unfortunately, none of the parts are actually defective so my retailer won't accept them back.

The problem is an incompatibility with my KT7-RAID and Geforce 2 GTS - unfortunately, the KT7 was a bit of an impulse buy so I didn't have time to check the KT7 FAQ where I would have found this potential incompatability documented. As a result, I'm looking for a replacement motherboard (mainly because it is the cheaper option).

I 'm thinking of an MSI K7T-Pro2A. Does this have any known incompatabilities? I've heard relatively few bad things about this board, are there any burning issues with it?

well, i have researched this board and it seems to be recommended by alot of people who know what they are talking about. Personally, i like my asus A7V, with its ata100 controller and i havent had any conflicts with it (yet), its easy to setup and use, and very stable. so you might want to explore that option.

Many reviews have given this board a thumbs up, but overclockers.com had some trouble with it that you may want to check out. good luck

get this board man. dumped my dumb kt7 for this board and all my issues cleared up. I rmad the board to my vendor and they found nothing wrong but my same parts in my msi system, screwed with the kt7 board so I said screw it and I'm glad I did. plus many message board messages for kt7 users that had similar problmes like with cpus and shutdowns, etc.

I have a geforce 2 gts in my kt7 raid and it's working great! It took a while to fix the crashes and usb problems though.

Makes me wonder sometimes if a majority of problems stem from 'user-error'. I'm not saying any one in particular did something wrong during setup, but I have built 3 machines using the Kt7-raid boards, with GF2's, and not a single prob.
I can count on one hand the crashes I have had in the past 3 months on my personal machine (kt7 raid and GF2 on it).
I guess it would be stupid to ask if you have all LATEST drivers.

The MSI is a very good board, much less incompatibilities and troubles, its a lot more stable as well, highly recommended.
