My current PC is a mix between a vaccum and an oven. Thus meaning its fvcking loud, and its fvcking hot. Im looking for a case that will hopefully solve both issues. Are there any cases that fit my needs? Thnaks

My brother and I both have the sonata, and we love it. Best case I've ever used.

I think compusa will have it for $69 on black friday (gonna get another for our roommate).

Are there any cheaper alternatives to the Sonata? Say for someone who didn't care really about looks or size?

Antec slk3700amb or compucase LX-6A19 (d8000).

The Antec SLK3700-BQE has better cooling than the Sonata, is just as quiet, and costs about $20-30 less.

can you confirm that price? if that is true, i'm definatley going to buy one.

almost anything Antec.
even my SX600II has decent cooling capabilities and with Vantec stealth fans front and rear, it's pretty dang quiet.

I have the Antec Sonata.....I love it. Very quiet, nice looking, cool blue lights, comes with a great power supply included, and no heat problem.

Great price too!

"Cases" are not any louder or quieter than others. It's the fans you put in them that make the noise.

Anything can be hushed with the proper PSU, ventilation, and cooling setup.

Good point, but some cases are better laid out than others and have 120mm fan slots instead of 80mm. Or they have more vibration dampining. Whenever I run a CPU intensive program on my PC, it rattles like a freight train.

here's my pc parts :
Dvd Burner
Dvd/cdrw combo drive
4 hard drives (all SATA)
Radeon 9800XT

Would the Sonata be able to "handle" all that stuff? Ie - With the 1 stock fan, would the cooling be adequate?

Cool and quiet are a difficult combo. One always seems to suffer. Trick is finding the right balance between what noise is acceptable to you and what temp your rig can handle.

Have you concidered water cooling? How about phase change?

How much are you willing to spend (the obvious would be as little as possible)?

A really good H2O set-up can be had for as little as $200.00 . The phase change is going to be about x3 as much.

A new case with dual 120mm fans (plug time: the Lian-Li V2000/2100 series) would be a good foundation for air or H2O.

Let us know what you decide (or let the masses decide 4 u)

surprised no one has mentioned a lian li due to the heat factor.. but also as someone stated already its the fans in the case not the case itself... i say pickup a case of choice lian li is a good case for heat transfer and grab some quiet fans or fans that push the cfm you want and get a baybus or rheobus to control them for when you want the quietness or when you want the coolness

Check out arm systems, they sell a DIY kit which includes a case and modified power supply that is supposed to be very quiet. You also might want to check out silentpcreview for more info on quiet pcs.

I'd go with either that, or the case I bought.. (exactly the same inside)

Judging by a side by side pic in another thread earlier on AT, this case, and the Antec are definitely made by the same people, they are 100% identical inside, except for the PSU. but I love my 6A19.
