I have yet to have a DVD drive, so I think its about time to get one. However I am not looking for a burner. So what I want is a high quality DVD internal DVD drive for under 100 bucks.

Yeah ElFenix is right going with Lite on but if you don't have a fast cd writer and you could sqeeze out a few more $s i would go with the Lite on Combo for $54 or you could go ahead and get a Lite on Burner for 104 or a NEC burner for less than $100.

Lite-on drives are very good and cheap, however they are noisy. I am going to go with a Lite-on 52x32x52 cd burner and I am also uncertain about a DVD drive. Since I will mist likely use the DVD drive as my primary reading drive I want it to be quiet. Here is a good place for reviews, CDRlabs. Look around and see what they recommend, they do benchmarking too on the drives they review.

I use a pioneer slot loading DVD drive. It's an original 6x that has bbeen going strong for the last 3 years. You can easily find it for under $50, as that is probably the most expensive as far as internal IDE dvd drives go. But if you are really planning on spending $100, you can definitely get a high quality DVD rewriter from a reputable brand.

I just got the combo drive for my comp and it works well. The beige version though :).

I have a Pioneer 116 (not the slot-loading 106) that's been great. You can find a utility program online that lets you limit the speed of the drive for silent operation during movie playback.
