I want to take snapshots of some of my DVD movies from PowerDVD but I dont know of a program that does it. Anyone know of a free app that does this? Thanks.

PowerDVD can already do this. Right click on the camera icon to configure it to your liking.

A number of video players have that capability. Media Player Classic has it as well.

The software that came with my old Sigma Designs Real-Magic Hollywood Plus hardware DVD decoder card would not allow me to take snapshots from any 'copy-protected' DVD...which is pretty much all of them.

EDIT* I didnt know PowerDVD had a screenshot capability, but it doesnt allow me to take snapshots of any of the DVD's ive tried. Its like Ichinisan said, I guess it doesnt work for copy protected discs.

Just to clarify, I want to be able to take a screenshot from a DVD that is playing.

No you don't use the Print Screen key. Power DVD has a little button in the controls for taking a screen cap.

Yeah, I said I tried that. No matter what DVD I put in, that little Camera icon is grayed out and wont let me click it.

Well, I figured it out. I had to disable Hardware Acceleration in PowerDVD before it would let me take a screen capture. Thanks again guys.

Strange. You would think that it would be simple for the decoder software to process one frame manually when you click the capture button...even if you were using the hardware-accelerated overlay mode.

Lazy programmers...
