I remember a while back seeing a product that I now have a use for.

It was an external HD (probably used a laptop drive) with a CF slot (and possibly other media types as well). Basically the idea was you could copy the contents of the flash card onto the HD, this vastly increasing your available storage. I have a new camera, & would like to shoot TIFFS. Even a 1 GB CF card can only hold 60-70 images, & CF isn't particularly reliable. My camera is CF type I only, so no microdrives for me.

Anybody remember what this product was called? I think it might have included "vault," but I don't remember.

I already have an internal USB2 media reader - Works great, & is fast as hell.

Portability is key here, if CF wasn't so expensive (and notoriously unreliable) I would stock up on a few 1 GB CF cards.

Good 40X+ CF cards run about $220-250 for 1 GB capacity.

nice, just need to add a laptop HD.

what would be even nicer... if they sold an adapter for my ipod to do it :) of course, i'm going to guess apple would charge a bundle.

the newer archos jukeboxes have an adapter for this purpose as well. my cousin has one since work sends him off all over the world and he doesn't have a laptop to lug around.

a product like this is def. worth the $$ IMO - it gives you virtually unlimited snapshots whereever you go...
