Hi:

I am looking for a new PC (no MAC's because all the software I own is PC) for general graphic design (Photoshop/Illustrator) and High Definition video editing. I hear that you need something pretty powerful when working with AVCHD files that would come from a Flash Drive based HD Video Camera.

I figure if it can do video editing I am good to go on the other stuff.

I own a dedicated Pinnacle video capture card/software.

I really don't have the time or patience right now to build a PC from scratch so I was looking for a pre-built one...any recommendations?

Thank you in advance for any help.

imac or mac pro, refurbished from apple.com

Install windows 7 on it and you're good to go. Eventually you can start figuring things out on the mac end, which is what most paid editors use. I was a pc based editor for years (avid/premiere/sony vegas) and do not regret moving to FCP

Look at gaming systems offered by Dell and HP. Those will have the power you need as far as the video card itself goes. Make sure you get one with a quad core i7 CPU. This will allow you to upgrade the RAM. If you can't find one with 6gb to 12Gb of RAM thats OK you can easly add more yourself. Then throw in your capture card and your all set.

BTW this is the laptop and SFF section. This should have been posted in the Computer help section.
