Looking for a pre-built - Anyone ever get a refurb?

I've built approx 50-60 systems over the years, but haven't kept up on what's what the past few years, and don't have a lot of time to build any more. What does anyone think about this: Compaq - AMD 64 5000 - 2gb - 500gb hd. I don't have a valid OS anymore so I need a system with an OS (I do use Linux, but this is a family system). What is the opinion of this?

I'm also tempted by the quad core barebones from Tigerdirect that is over in the hot deals forum......

I've bought refurbed Dells off ebay before and have been very satisfied.
You usually get a good value for your dollars.
The way I see it, ebay vendors that sell refurbs have a reputation to keep up.
I only buy from those tha have 98 or highe ratings and that have done hundreds and hundreds of sales.
 
You can get pretty nice Dell refurbs (with Windows XP), from ebay for between $150-$200 shipped.
Hint: The Mini-Tower models (not Slim), have larger PS and are more upgradeable. 😉
