Looking for a plug mount access point

So I'm looking for a wireless range extender in the plug mount configuration that can use the ethernet port as the input for the network, vs the output. I have a TP-link range extender that works okay as a range extender, but I also happen to have an ethernet port right next to the outlet I use for the range extender. I'd like to be able to use the small footprint of a plug mount range extender, but use it as an access point so the range extender can connect to the house network at the full speed of the home network. You lose a lot of speed on a range extender since you are just amplifying an already weak signal AND you're doubling the data you're sending over the wireless network. So far I've searched in vain. Thanks for your input.

If you have an Ethernet jack just use an additional access point(or router configured as just an AP). As long as the SSID and key are the same the client should select the best access point.

Maybe I wasn't very clear... I would like an Access Point in the shape of the plug mount wireless range extenders. I like the form factor of those devices and how they automatically mount to the wall with no other wires or drilling into the wall required. I have an ethernet port already right next to the plug since I wired my house for ethernet when I built it. The one I have now works fine as a range extender, but it is amplifying an already slow signal from the main router located in a closet. Connecting to the ethernet port would make the wireless extender device connect at 100mbit rather than at 35mbit or so.

Unfortunately the device that you are looking for are Not much better than the TP-Link you you already have even if they Router or AP.

In any case there is a big collection of them in Amazon. Personally I can not recommend any.

Search Amazon for Portable Wireless Router.

Personally I can not recommend any of them.

Thank you. This is what I was looking for. I don't need anything wonderful just as long as it doesn't freeze on me.

Another option you may want to look at, if you have a LAN port there is open-mesh. They have an access point that you can fit over a single gang plate that connects with a LAN port and acts as it's own fully functioning access point? I've never personally liked repeater's.
