looking for a player with ARC port that can play MKV formats

Sir,
I have a Sony DVD HT. (DAV DZ340) with 5.1 surround speaker system. It has no digital input except one HDMI/ARC port. I want to play MKV movie files for getting real 5.1 surround sound. My player does not support MKV file formats. I am searching for a blue ray player or other USB player with ARC port, so I can play the MKV movie and send the 5.1 surround sound (not virtual surround) to the Sony HT.

Any one pls. help to solve my problem?

A 4k media player perhaps? S912 based media player should have hdmi 2.0

Would have posted a link but spam filter is stopping me.

Which TV are you using? Your DAV is not really an optimal device for centralizing control due to its design, so you are likely best served by using the TV for source selection and letting ARC feed audio back to your DAV. Then you can use whatever player you like best.

Note that most of the "Android TV Boxes" are basically tablets that use your TV as a screen with an interface to match, as opposed to a device that runs the actual "AndroidTV OS", which is set up for operation via a regular style remote vice the "air mouse" setup . https://androidtv.news/2016/07/android-tv-versus-android-smart-tv-boxes/

(I like the Shield, but the Mi Box is a cheap alternative that could be worth consideration)

My TV returns virtual surround sound through HDMI/ARC port.
How can I play MKV movie in any player and receive the real 5.1 sound to the home theater and HD movie to the TV.
Is there any MKV player that have two HDMI port, one for ARC to the HT and other to display HD video output to the TV?

If your htib has an HDMI input and an hdmi output, what is the problem? Just connect the media player to the htib hdmi input.

Does the tv do arc? It is really not the player's issue if we are talking about using tv's switch. Never mind, just read the tv sends virtual surround as opposed to pass through.

I would just get a 4k player and a hdmi switch with audio breakout, like this
