Looking for a place to buy and get a good deal on laptop

Hello,

My friend has a $1300 budget and he wants to spend it on a good laptop for school. He recently looked on ebay and found a good deal on a brand new laptop from alienware with these specs:

intel p4 3.2ghz, audigy 2zs, 1gb ram, 60gb hitachi harddrive, audigy nx, 9600 128mb vid card, brand new with xp pro installed

He is getting that for $1000 with a free case/battery pack as well. I told him that he could find a better deal somewhere coz I know alienwares are always overpriced...So I was wondering if someone can recommend me some good sites that has a better deal on a laptop around that price with specs as good if not better.

 
That actually sounds like a really good deal, TBH. I bet its a heavy laptop though.

The closest Dell equivalent to something that powerful would have to be the i9300, and I tried to match your basic specs as best I could and got almost $2000. With a $750 off $2000 coupon yo can get that down, but you still have a $250 or so difference, more if the Alienware has a DVD burner, or some kind of MS Office, or an extended warranty.
