Looking for a place / application to purchase and download music

This doesn't quite fit in any of the other categories I see, so I'm putting it here. Mods, please move this is there's a more appropriate place.

I have collection of CDs probably totaling around $1000-1500 or so. Most of them are ripped to my computer, but due to HDD limitations when I first started ripping my music, many of my songs are only 256kbps MP3s. I've only recently started re-ripping some CDs into lossless formats such as FLAC, and I'm finding a number of them are now scratched and can't be repaired. 🙁

I'm looking for a service by which I can pay for and download digital music, similar to iTunes. I'd like to get something that will allow me to play my music where I want, when I want - Windows Media Player, MP3 Players (most likely not iPods, haven't decided which brand yet though), etc. Most of all, I want good quality music; 128kbps MP3s aren't going to cut it. I may settle for 320kbps MP3s, but I'd prefer something lossless, like FLAC. Right now, Amazon's MP3 store is tempting, but last I checked, they were only 256kbps MP3s - still decent quality, but I'd prefer better.

As mentioned in the topic summary, I have NO interest in illegal sources. Please don't suggest, or even bother hinting about them.

Any suggestions?
