Im looking for headphones, not ear-buds. they should preferably be over-ear and not on-ear.

Comfort is most important to me, Ill use them with my phone so portability is important to.
Something under $50.

Here are a few options that I've liked. I've personally moved on to in ear headphones for portability, so this list is kinda dated:

Sennheiser px100 - I paid $39 for mine, but they retail for more like $60
Koss Portapro
Koss KCS75

The kcs75s are clip on but sound great for the price (about $20)
The px100 and the portapro are collapsible. I can't really tell you which ones are better - the px100s cost more but the portapros are a personal fav (though they look a bit funky)

If portability was not a factor I'd suggest the Grado sr60 or the JVC RX700

Or $27.

Warning: while DAKmart is definitely legit, they are pretty slow to process internet orders and it may take a few days just to find out the item isn't in stock. Maybe a phone order would be simpler...

WOW, that's a great price. Amazon lists them for $69!

I forgot about these headphones - the koss ktx pro- less than $20 and they sound reallly good.. they don't fold up so they're not as portable as say the portapro or px100:

JVC HA-RX700. They're big, but they're super comfy and sound absolutely incredible for the price (some prefer them to $150 headphones!). I had no troubles walking around with them on. I looked a bit goofy, but it was totally worth it.

They're $35, BTW.

I have these as well and love them, but they're MASSIVE. The px100/portapros are better suited for portable use

Thanks for the recommendations.
Which of these headphones except the JVC dont squash your ears against your head?
Or is it only the big bulky ones that do that?

The Sennheisers are on-ear, but they're light enough that it shouldn't be a problem. This is assuming you don't want on-ears because of the ear pressure (caused by headphones like the AKG K81DJ, Audio-Technica ES7, Sennheiser HD25, etc).

However, if you're just using them for in-home usage, I'd throw in an emphatic recommendation for the JVC HA-RX700. They sound great, and for $30, are a HUGE value, sonically and literally.

If you want portability, though, either the Koss KSC75s or the Sennheiser PX100s will probably be the best bet. I've actually never heard the PX100s, but from other people's impressions it sounds like they are as good as or marginally better than the Koss. However, the Koss are clip-ons, so unless you want to buy the Parts Express headphone that has the same headband, they'll probably be uncomfortable for around-the-clock usage. It's worth looking into the SportaPro and the PortaPro too, as they sound similar to the KSC75, but only if you're into retro or something

As for fit -
Koss portapro- a bit tight, the head band is a single curved piece of metal, so it's kinda like a spring... I like the snug fit, but if you're sensitive to pressure on your ears you may want to look elsewhere

Sen px100- segmented headband, really light on your head

Koss ksc75 - clip on your ears

Koss KTX 1- Standard headband

I'd say the sen's are the most comfy of the group, and the sound quality among all of them's very similar.. Koss are a little warmer, but the sen's are lovely too.
