Hi all,

In the search for a nice LCD monitor. Looking for some 19" models and came up with these:

BenQ 19" LCD FP937S+ TCO03 Monitor, Silver, 8ms
BenQ 19" LCD FP91G+ TCO03 Monitor, Black/Silver, DVI, 8ms
Samsung 19" LCD Syncmaster 930BF TCO-99 Monitor, DVI-D, D-sub, 4ms

These are in the 350-400 euro Pricerange. Are these worthwhile having? I do some gaming and surfing. Most of the times I'm playing world of warcraft. This will be my first LCD monitor. I have an old 15" that I got as a gift. But that one is connected to my Girlfriends machine and she doesnt do any gaming and unfortunately I dont know the speccs on that one.

EDIT:
Also found this one Xerox 19" LCD XA7-192i TCO-99 Monitor, Silver/Black, DVI, 8ms, anti-glare glass Which I most likely will have employee discount for. Anyone know who makes the backpanels for the xerox displays?

When looking for LCDs try to find the lowest resp time (sub 16ms) with 8-bit color (rather athan 6-bit like the Samsung you have there) - they are out there now!
Also, I would go for either 17" or jump up to 20"+ the reason being 19" are the same res as 17" and have less quality picture bc its "stretched out."
Best monitor to find is a TN panel as they typically have best response time, but worse color (6bit) - however there are panels as I hvae mentioned with 8-bit color and low response times! (some Dells are pretty good).
As far as models go, I have the Samsing 710T which I love (12ms resp with 6-bit color - which hasnt bothered me at all)
Im sure you know to always get DVI also :)

Did you read Anand's general guide to LCDs yet? Awesome article!
old article but still relevant

Thanks for the responce.

The reason I'm going 19" is that 20" is out of my budget and 17" is too small. I'm moving back to sweden and find it too expensive shipping my heavy 21" CRT cargo. So I'm selling that one and buying a 19" TFT that will serve me for 1-2 years. It will later go into my other systems/serve as a 2nd monitor och go into my girlfriends system. I'll see if I can find a good panel with 8bit.
