I have a 60" Sony SXRD rear projection tv with a stand that I bought 5 years ago from Sam's. Warranty is out and the bulb just blew for the third time in the past year. Something else is wrong with it other than the bulb apparently. I am tired of this and am just going to buy a new tv. I am interested in a 60" tv and am looking for suggestions on what to buy. I am not to familiar with LCD, LED, Plasma and so on differences as far as which is better. Heck, I could even buy a 3D tv for the heck of it now. I plan on doing some research tomorrow but thought the knowledgeable people around here could be helpful and start me off.

I am not looking to go over $2,000 if possible, with taxes.

Not sure of your location. Drop by at a Costco and take a look at what they have displayed. Prices are very competitive. They also have a generous return/exchange policy.

I will make this sort and sweet.

This will go on for about 100 replies...

My apologies on the wrong forum. I do not venture out much into other areas. If a mod would be kind enough to move it, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks for the help so far.

At my opinion, I would say if you don't mind the power usage, I would get a Plasma. With a 2k budget, you can get a the near-top of the line Panasonic 60" G-series plasma. The TC-P60GT30 is ~$1,700 before taxes.

That's just my opinion though, contrary to Gibson's above post, it doesn't really matter to me what tv you end up with if you're happy :p After doing my own research I was able to pick up a 50" G series plasma for $500 lightly used from a college student on craigslist and its image quality is top notch.

Personally, I'd stay away from LG (Goldstar) but in that price range, it would be hard to.

No, i agree. The debate is just dumb, I have both a Plasma and a LCD. I couldn't care which one I watch. They both have their pros and cons, but at the end of the day, I can watch TV on either one and not think about the other.
