My budget is $160, looking at the Audigy ZS and the Logitech X-530

I live in an apartment, so will the subwoofer be a problem or is there another set of speakers I can get without it?

Thanks.

If you need to get a soundcard and speakers, I'd switch the ratio you're spending on them (spend the bulk on speakers rather than soundcard)

Is this for music or games mostly? Do you have room to set up a 5.1 properly or would this be all in front of you?

What kind of soundcard/integrated audio do you have now?

Spend your budget on a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX certified speakers ($140 or so). Then, spend $24 on a Chaintech AV-710 VIA Envy24HT-S sound card, and use the high sample rate 2.1 mode where it will utilize the Wolfson DAC on the card. For about $170, you have a sound system that will annihilate most home stereos. If you have onboard Azalia audio (not the ALC850 or lower CODEC), then skip the sound card and go with that. The Azalia audio is already good enough.
