Looking for a new router - Suggestions?

Here is my situation. I have a cable modem, a wireless access point (for my laptops), and a cable router (with a 4 port switch) for my wired computers. The router is failing on me (it's a Linksys BEFSR41), so I need to get something new.

I have seen advertised in the Best Buy weekly, a Linksys WRT55AG wireless access point + cable router, but the reviews of this product at Amazon are less than spectacular (2 stars out of 5).

I'd like to consolidate my wireless access point in with my router / switch so I only have one box, instead of two. Does anyone here have some suggestions of products I might look at? Surely someone else has a setup similar to mine. What do folks here use?

Thanks in advance!

Look up a Linksys WRT54G router, even with stock firmware, it's an excellent router. Have had mine on continuously for 2 months with no issues. If you upgrade the firmware via sveasoft, you now have a commercial type router for about $60

I agree. Linksys WRT54G (or GS since you're finding less G around).
I've setup dozens of them and have no issues.
I usually use HyperWRT for a different firmware though.
It's free and works great. Can easily boost the power if you're a bit short.

I have a two level house with basement and a separated garage. The router is in the basement since that's where all the cabling comes in. There is a cement block wall in the garage & the basement and I can still get an excellent rated signal though both and about 150ft away. I also get an excellent signal two floors up. I also have three 2.4GHz phones, two 2.4GHz X-box controllers (separate rooms), a microwave, and a bluetooth adapter on my PC for my cell phones. I've never had any interference issues.

PS- I also have a 16 port switch connected to one port, a 24 port switch in the workshop on another port. The 16 port switch has a 5 port off one line and an 8 port of another.

Again no issues.
