Mass Effect and The Witcher are both good choices.

FYI, the Witcher Director's Cut that is on Steam now is uncensored, so the only reason to buy the import is if you want the physical CDs and artbook.

List:
Ultima: 1 - 9 and most of the 1 offs
Wizardy: Most of them.
FF: Most of the main
Elder Scrolls: Arena, Buggerfall, Oblivion
MechWarrior: 1-3
Baldur's Gate: 1 and 2
Grim Fandango
Metal Gear Solid 4
DOOM 1 to 3

I am not really good at FPS, but I will play a few of them if the story is good.

The Witcher is a good choice.

Stalker:Shadow of Cherynobl is a nice FPS/RPG hybrid, with interesting story and ambience.

If you really liked Oblivion and don't mind the apocalyptic setting, there's Fallout 3, though the ending is ....underwhelming. And how did you miss Morrowind?

If you want to go very old school Planescape Torment is very very deep.

Dragon Age should be out in a bit, and you would probably like that.

I don't see Star Wars: KoTOR I & II on your list, you need to fix that.

Or Fallout 1-2, get both for $6 total with no DRM from gog.com (sale, ends soon)

OK I picked up: The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. $30 at WB.

And how did you miss Morrowind?
Daggerfall was so full of bugs and crashes so I skipped Morrowind.
I saw it today and almost picked it along with Witcher.

A few years ago a co-worker was raving about Oblivion so I bought that.

About the old school classics that I play. I am old school.

Mass Effect, Kotor 1/2 , Fallout 3. And Stalker, although it's probably more Shoot em up than RPG- but it's awesome.

The KOTOR games are great. A little dated graphically, but if you are a fan of Star Wars at all then you should really give them a go. Even if you aren't, they are great RPG games in their own right :) At this point I'd definitely classify both as "old school" classics :)

Give Morrowind a serious chance. With the GOTY package you get the original game plus both expansions. The world is HUGE and what is outstanding are the mutitude of excellent Community Mods for almost everything conceivable.

Another RPG you might want to seriously consider is the Gothic 1, 2 Night of the Raven and 3 but ONLY with the Community Patch 1.72. Whatever you do start with G1. G2 is one of the best RPGs I have ever played.

I started replaying Baldurs Gate 1 w/ Swords Coast this weekend and having a blast. I still cant believe how great a game this was for something that came out in '98

Pretty much all my favorite games came out in the 90s. There was a lot more focus on substance rather than graphics back then.

Mass Effect

It might be your bread and water for a couple of days.

Since you bought The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, I suggest you get the latest patch (1.5). It removes DRM with is always a plus. There is also the Directors Cut which you can download for free.

Modern RPGs not on your list:

Mass Effect
Witcher - Enhanced edition
Neverwinter Nights 2 series (start with the original main campaign until you get bored, then move to Mask of the Betrayer)

In that order...
