I?m getting ready to buy a new notebook for e-mail, internet browsing, and very minor photo editing and no gaming. Any recommendations for a laptop that would cost $800.00 or less with a good track record for reliability would help. So far I looking at a Dell 6000 with a 1.6 Pentium M, Acer Aspire AS3003WLCi with an AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+ or HP ze2000z with a AMD Sempron(TM) 3300+ all would be with 512 ram, wireless and a 60 gig harddrive. I would like to have 2 hours or more run time on battery. The most important is going to be reliability. I know that HP and Dell are very close in reliability but have not found to much on the Acer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks again.

What about a Celeron processor would do what i'm looking for with good power mangement?

I?d say all three are decent. My youngest brother has a 6000, and my other brother has an HP, neither can find anything to complain about. I just bought a Dell 9300 (arriving today). I would recommend that if they are all comparably priced and equipped, id go for whichever gives you the better warranty options (length/coverage).

You should get the Hp one. 3300+ with Brightscreen, 256 MB of ram, DVD drive(no rewritable cababilities), Productivity parts (its worth the 25 bucks to pay for USB and FIrewire), 60 gig HD, wireless, and 12 cell battery. Pop in another 512 stick for around 45 bucks shipped form newegg and you have a nice performing laptop for around 800 bucks AR. THat seems to be the best way to go. I would think that the 12 cell battery should last around 4-5 hours.
