I am looking for a new NAS device and have come across the QNAP TS-209 which seems like a solid device for the entry to mid level NAS. Has RAID functionality as well as a lot of other options in regards to secondary servers (itunes, webserver, media server...)

I haven't looked around a lot per say at other devices so if anyone has any experience with this device I would love to hear any pro's and/or con's

Thanks in advance,

Leeland

I gave up on the stand alone NAS.

For about the same amount build a Windows Home Server.

You get a nice NAS and much more.

I see pro's and con's to both sides...and for me it is more about space and just reliability...the current device I have now the N2100 from thecus I never felt to safe with even though I never had an issue...

Also the NAS I listed above has low power consumption when idle which is nice and along with some other nice perks like encrypted FTP, web server, media server all in one device. I haven't experienced the WHS setup but I am not sure you would get the same from a WHS out of the box?

Correct out of the box would need more work.
