Looking For A New Monitor

Alright, when it comes to PCs and building them, I could list out the best parts for any given budget. When it comes to monitors, I am fairly clueless as to what is quality and what is just overpriced.

So I turn to you. I need some ideas on a very good quality gaming monitor (if that even makes sense). I know that most gamers (including myself) prefer CRTs over LCDs and for obvious reasons. The thing is, considering how often I am moving around, I cannot be lugging a ~15-20 pound monitor around everywhere I move to.

Money is really nothing to worry about but I pretty much refuse to pay over $350-$400 for a monitor. Something around 22-24 inches should suffice. Anything smaller isn't worth it in my opinion, and anything bigger is just overkill.

Any input is greatly appreciated as I would love to get a new monitor ASAP so I can send this one off and have it back before I start this spring semester at college.

I would suggest a 2408WFP. It can be had for $450 on dell outlet, or you could get the 2407WFP on delloutlet for $400. I have the 2407WFP myself, but I have a buddy with the 2408 and it is a beautiful screen. Might be better off asking in Video Cards & Graphics though.

Another vote for the 240xWFP screens. I have the 2405 which was the predecessor to the 2407 and I absolutely love it. Picture quality is amazing and it has plenty of adjustability; left/right swivel, tilt, height and 90 degree rotation. Also has plenty of inputs along with built in memory card readers. Dells are pretty pricey though, if your looking for something cheaper, take a look at some of Acers monitors. I have a 22" AL2216W as my secondary monitor and for the price it is not bad.

As for that old tired argument that CRT is better for gaming; just try gaming on an LCD. I play counter strike, BF2 and team fortress 2 on an LCD with no problem and Ive got friends who are hard core gamers who also use them. LCDs are just fine for gaming.

That may be a very good choice. Here at my office we use the Dell 1908WFP and it is quite good. Perfect size for a small desk.

Truthfully, this probably belongs in peripherals or vc&g more than here. Certainly, the Dell 2408WFP, as other have noted, is a pretty good value. You may also want to consider looking at some of HP's monitors - they're not quite as popular as Dell's, but I've been consistently impressed with them.
