looking for a new Lenovo laptop

Hi all,

I've been using my T42 for 7 years now, but it's starting to get old. One pixel died recently, and the keyboard cover has a few cracks. Still, I've had no problems with it - and absolutely love it. Primarily, I love the fact that it isn't wide screen, but I've pretty much accepted that I'll need a wide screen at some point.

I feel like T60 wouldn't be too much of an upgrade. My friend had the T400 and that looked nice, but then I found out it's also fairly old!

What's the latest and greatest Thinkpad wise for someone who really likes the T42 (and I also loved the T23).

Thanks!

T400 is still somewhat relevant. They are still selling it, but yes, it is being replaced by the T410. So if you are looking for value, the T400 might be a better buy depending on config.

If you want the iCore CPU, then go 410/510

check Lenovo outlet frequently. There are very very good deals appearing and disappearing. Stay late at night or early morning, you might grab one nice little machine, NEW or refurbished.

If you want to go new, the T410i with Core i3 can be had around $800 when it has a nice coupon available. The T410 with Core i5 is more around $900.

I *really* like the T400s/T410s. Thinner, lighter, good 1440x900 screen. Great keyboard, quiet & cool.

If you're shopping T400, look for R400 too. R400 is the same, but has a 12.7mm optical instead of 9.5mm. Same chassis, features, etc.
