K guys maybe you guys can think of something at the top of your head...but i need a new reciever for my home and i'd like something that can let me plug my hi def TV, PS3, and HDMI direct tv receiver. I'd like something that won't break the bank and im not afraid to try different brands.

The Sony STR-DG810 has 3 HDMI inputs.
Cnet was not kind in their review however:
The bottom line: The Sony STR-DG810 delivers three HDMI inputs at a fairly low price, but connectivity, features, and sound quality shortfalls spoil the deal.

The Onkyo TX-SR605 is a solid pick, however it only has 2 HDMI inputs and downconverts 1080i component video signals to 720p when outputting over HDMI (per cnet).

I have the Yamaha HTR-6060. I love this receiver (2 HDMI(1.2) inputs, 7.1 channel).

Do you want it to decode incoming HDMI transported audio or just allow video switching, and if so at what output resolution?

Ive got an Onkyo 705 and loved it so much I picked up a 605 for my room. I paid 610 for it from Crutchfield about 4 months ago when I got it. Had to call them and ask for a better price, since the best they had online was 650 - 20 dollar coupon (google it, easy enough). Ive gotta be honest, owning both, the 705 is a big big boost over the 605, but both are great. The 705 does have the 3 HDMI 1.3 inputs you want, and decoding of all HD audio formats via HDMI.

I cannot with a good conscience recommend any receiver made by sony. I would take pretty much any brand ahead of them.

Good choices:
Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer

The Onkyo 705 takes care of the 3 HDMI issue and adds some features to the 605's base set.

What wouldn't break the bank in a dollar amount, gregshin?

I can vouch for the Onkyo 705. It sounds outstanding and does have 3 HDMI inputs (as well as upconverting analog video to HDMI)
