What have you played before? If you like RTS's C&C 3, Supreme Commander, and Company of Heroes could be entertaining.

Played company of heroes, liked it a lot. Downloading Act of War atm, heard mixed things about it. Haven't played C&C3 yet. What's supreme commander about?

Have you played STALKER yet? When it comes to atmosphere the game is unbeaten, and the combat and AI is very good as well. Also, you may want to try Hitman: Blood Money. The best of its series, mostly because they have the stealth AI down perfect and have been improving greatly on level design. No ultra-linear forced stealth levels like in Codename 47, no short filler levels like Jacuzzi Jacob and Hidden Valley like in Silent Assassin, and no unoriginal remade levels like there were a multitude of in Contracts.

Rise of Nations (RTS) was on sale for $5 a little while back at gogamer (or was it ebgames), have not had a chance to play it, but it is made by the same guy who designed Civilization 2 and Alpha Centauri.

My usual FPS suggestions: Deus Ex 1 and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (both available on STEAM)
