Looking for a new driving game

I got the urge to play a driving game this evening and dug out my copy of Colin McRae Rally 2 out of storage... wow, that game has aged 🙂

So I'm looking for a new driving game, something that will play well on my Phenom 2 960T 6 core, 12GB RAM, GeForce 750Ti. "Project CARS" looks pretty good and appears to have good ratings

Project Cars is supposed to be super solid.

There is also Dirt Rally that was released last month. I'm sure it would run fine on that. I had no issues with it on a i5 760 and 760gtx.

I love Assetto Corsa. It's enjoyable with 360 pad, and incredible with wheel. Not much of a 'game' in terms of a career or anything. But if you like driving itself, the mechanics are good and it's fun. Not sure about your setup. Runs spot on very high with my 770 is all I can say. It is a SIM.

Grid is great fun, but an arcade game. Fun though. Grid 2 sucks, Grid autosport is also quite fun as an arcade game! Dirt 2 I really enjoyed also. Wasn't as interested with Dirt 3.

Dirt Rally isn't "Released", it's in Early Access. In a practical sense there isn't a whole lot of difference, but it's still being worked on, needing more tweaking to existing content and adding more before it gets officially Released.

Subscribed. Always looking for a good racing game, as NFS games have been letting me down the last few years.

Tonight I just bit the bullet and bought Dirt Rally.
Hard for me to tell it's early access.
I've put a couple hours in it so far and it's exactly what I wanted - it's not as "brutal" as some people say ( in terms of handling ) - but it's a challenge.
Good stuff if you like rally games.

I like to do arcadish hinted games for driving every now and then, but more interested in the most simulation quality game out there for driving... Is dirt rally that game or something else?

I think I'm going to pick up Dirt Rally this week. From everything I've seen / read, it is pretty fantastic - and a real departure from the arcadish Dirt 2/3.

My understanding with Dirt is they intentionally released it as an early access to give the Dirt community a lot of say over where they take the game since it's such a huge departure from their previous titles. So while the content is early access the game feels pretty solid, it's not a bug filled game or anything. I've been burned enough by early access to generally stay away, but games like Dirt Rally and Cities Skyline are doing it right.
