If only they were made these days and had all the modern conveniences that we're used to. My biggest complaint about the V series is the poor cable routing -- especially from the PSU.

They're definitely great cases though. I think I owned every single model as I had a V1000, V1200 and V2000. I still have the latter two, and I built a PC for my mom in the small one. When she brought it into a tech place, they were surprised to see a case with wheels.

thats because lian li's are like exotic sports car..

want a passgener side mirror... you buy it..
want a basic feature.. you buy it again.. lol..

i remember spending 300 for my V2000 + adding another 300 in options to finish it..

:D

Cable routing too short? buy single braided extensions... u want single braided cables anyhow as they look nicer..

What in the world did you add to it that cost that much? The only necessary additions that I could think of would be more drive bay covers because Lian-Li included the lame optical drive cover and the floppy bay cover. Although, that floppy bay cover came in handy, because it's actually a 5.25"-to-3.5" adapter and a floppy drive cover. I wanted to put a USB 3 front panel bay into a PC, but I lacked any 3.5" bays. It's pretty safe to say that the floppy drive cover went bye-bye. :p

Well, I think the whole thing was made worse by the fact that when I was using the V-series cases was also when I didn't buy modular power supplies. So, you weren't just stuck trying to route the thick ATX power connector, but you also had to find room to stuff all those unused power cables. Now, I use fully-modular power supplies, which is nice since you can find individually-braided cables.

The side panels my contact attempted to get lasercut, and promptly cut through the metal supports and mounting brackets as well as screws that held them in. On both sides.

I've sent messages to about 20 different places, three replied with negatives. Silver PC said they had it, then linked me to a product page titled "Lian Li V-2000 Rgiht Side Panel", spelling error and all, when I needed a left panel. I questioned them on this and haven't received a reply, so it appears my only option is to either buy two right side panels, find the differences in mounting screw positions and modify them or find a custom metalworker around, provide a schematic and hope they can make one for me.

So yeah. Been about a year now and he's flat-out refused to try and fix it, as well as refusing to return some gear I loaned him, so I'm starting to do stuff myself. He's left me with quite a few issues on the system, so I'm trying to work through them.

Would the ASRock be better than my Rampage III? Would I need to get a newer cpu to work with it or something?

Fractal R2 looks pretty good, the Elysium looks a little strange to me and I can fit a full tower under my desk, so I don't need to get a mid tower.

I just bought the Corsair Carbide Air 540 case and it is amazing. Very sturdy and well laid out.
