looking for a new case

Im starting to look for a new case again, anything is open. I already have a Antec 480W PSU so a PSU isnt needed. And I would like to continue to use my 120MM fans. I have Antec P160 right now, but I am going to get some new HDDs and need need more space than this case can offer.

I was reading a review about a case, but I dont know the name for it, but it has the PSU on the bottem of the case and the HDDs sat sidewase like on the Antec P160, in the bottem of the case also. The motherboard was above the PSU...I dont know the name or who makes this case, I would like to know and if it is any good.

think you're probably talking about lian li PC-V1000, there is also an even bigger version of that, which I can't find on their page right now.

Just about any of their pc-7? series will do the trick too, they have 15 device bays.

or, coolermaster cm stacker.

Thanks the Lian-Li PCV-1000 is what I was thinking of....Im maybe think of going with the "PC-V2000A or somthing like that...It can hold 12 HDDs...Kinda over kill but i still like it. 😀

You might look at the full-tower clones of the Antec 1200-series design. They have two fan-coolable HDD racks that will take three drives each, and they also have six 5.25" bays, although you'd probably need SCSI or SATA cables to mount drives in the upper ones without having an over-length data cable (18" is the maximum "official" ATA cable length, as you probably know).

Re-reading the above... heh, I feel like I'm spec'ing a Battlemech or something 😀 Ok, in the omni slots, I recommend dual Thunderbolt Arrow IV's for this mission... 😛

Anyway, Directron had a silver model that came without a PSU for about $60-70 IIRC. They go under the Chieftec name. Hmm, looking there, it looks like the silver one got discontinued... but if you don't mind having a window, here's the case in beige: link, not wowzy but functional

Enermax 1018x, Athenatech A800 series, PCMCIS PCM-TP030SB (only at Fry's/Outpost.com - AFAIK) - need to use some 3.5 to 5" adapters to hold 6HD (50 cents each at cputopia.com).
.bh.

Cooler Master Stacker

I'd go along with that 😀. You'd need to get an extra HD module for more than 4 HDs, but they do have a 120mm fan in front to cool the disks.

I dig my PC-V2000 - if you want drive space, it doesn't get much better than 12 internal 3.5" and 7 external 5.25" in a reasonable size....

I have 6 HDs in mine thanks to hot deals🙂
