Looking For a New Bicycle

The weather is getting warmer and I want to get into bicycling again. I want a mountain bike, but I am not too sure what is a decent bike. I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars, but I would spend up to $400.

Any recommendations?

GT, Trek or Canondale.

I picked up a GT Aggressor 3.0 (used) for about $125. Great entry level bike.

Avoid Walmart & other mass market crap, go to a LBS & see what they have.

I would also look at places like SuperGo, I picked up a discontinued GT i-Drive 6.0 (full suspension aluminum mtb) for a fraction of what it retailed for.

Paid a LBS to do the final assembly/tuneup on it & ended up with a very good bike for not much money.

Look into the GT Avalanche, Trek 3700, Trek Y26, etc .

Not really sure what kind of options you are looking for so just throwing out some suggestions.

I took a look and saw the TREK 3700, 4100 and the 4300. What do you think?
