Looking for a new AM2 MB

Looking for some advice from the users here.

I'm looking to upgrade from my current setup to something that would fit (motherboard wise) to the equipment that I already own.

I have a AMD 5000 x2 black box edition, and a 8800 GTS that I would like to keep. I'm looking for an AM2+ MB that I could upgrade to a Phenom in the future. I'd like an SLI option as well.

I was originally looking at a MB with the Nvidia 750a chipset, but the GEforce boost won't work with the 8800 GTS.

Any other chipsets/MB that i'm missing?

Thanks

I was wrong I have a 8800GT superclocked. Thanks for the info!

Few questions from your recommendations though:

Can I use 2 nvidia GPU's on a crossfire chipset and still get the SLI benefits?

The 780a chipset does sound good.... Is it true that you will be able to upgrade to an AM3 cpu with a BIOS flash?

Thanks!

You may not 'SLI' on a 'CrossFire' mobo and vice versa.

Initial 'rumahs' held that AM3 CPUs would have a built-in DDR2/DDR3 memory controller. I wouldn't count on that - it is likely that the new 45nm AM2+ CPUs will work depending upon the mobo and vendor support.

Be very wary of promises of "future" support of new processors. I got duped into buying a Foxconn 590 SLI chipset thinking all the 590 boards would support Phenom. Nope...only ASUS 590 & 570 boards supported Phenom and no one else. So, if you really want that "future" support, stick with ASUS who has the track record of actually delivering on a promise. As a result, I never did buy that Phenom processor...which was a blessing given the TLB issues on the early processors.
