What I originally saw was likely a clip from another full movie. (I assume, because what I saw was only about 10 minutes)
It looked like something from the old days (guessing at 1920-1930?), a guy comes home at christmas on a train. After her gets off, but before before he goes home, he sells his (pocketwatch?) to buy his wife a christmas present (a hair brush or hairclip?).
When they exchange their gifts, he finds out that his wife had cut her hair to buy him a (chain?) for his watch.
It was very touching and I'd like to see it again, but I have no idea what it was called.
