My system parts so far:
Thermaltake W0106RU 700W PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
OCZ SLI-Ready 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
EVGA GeForce 9600GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Video Card
Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVR-116DBK (IDE)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 160GB SATA 3.0Gb/s HD
I got most of these parts through combo deals/rebates from NewEgg over the past couple of months.
I am not too sure I am going to stick with the RAM. I was aware that the "SLI-Ready" label is just a gimmick when I bought it, but for OCZ 2x1GB I figured 19.99 AR was a good price, but now I am thinking picking up a 2x2GB kit as I am going to be using 64bit Vista.
What I really need is a motherboard recommendation. I am looking for a motherboard with a friendly bios for a newbie to overclocking. I am not looking for a maximum overclock I am simply going to bump up my E8400 to a 400MHz FSB to achieve 3.6GHz which would also match my DDR2 800 perfectly.
I have been looking at the P5Q Pro and the Gigabyte DS3L. I understand that both of these are great boards, but which one would I have the easiest time achieving my overclock? With the motherboard recommendation, maybe someone can also recommend a good DDR2 800 2x2GB kit to compliment the motherboard.
Also, what is a good aftermarket CPU cooler that I could pick up? This is in a tower configuration so I don't want it to be heavy.
