Honestly, what's the point in that many dimms?

512 meg sticks of ram are almost identical, in price AND performance, to two 256's. You honestly plan on using 2 gigs of ram? o_O

What crap on him, Maezr? If the guy wants 4 DIMM slots then that is what we should help him with. I've been banned for less thread crapping than you just pulled.:|

ASUS P4G8X.

The only thing it doesn't match is DDR400, but this board has dual channel DDR instead.

Look at what you are planning on using the system for, then match up configurations.

You are definitely looking at a high end board, but if you don't have the other components that can take advantage of the system, then it might be better to buy a slightly lesser board and put the remaining money into components. Ie, what is your current v-card, sound card, hdd's?????

by using the ddr400 and 533 fsb, you'll pick up some extra speed, but is that where your current bottleneck exists? Take a close look at what is going to be stressing your system the most (graphics, data transfer, ect.), see where if any bottleneck exists, then upgrade to reduce the bottleneck.

I'm looking at upgrading my system but it's primarily for gaming and education, so graphics will be the priority. Like you, I'm also considering the ASUS but opting for the 7V, or the EPOX, and matching it with a 9500 Pro v-card (have to consider the budget). But this will get me a long ways down the road before I have to add more.

good luck
