I'm going blind looking at the different choices. Basically, I want an IPS monitor at least 27" that I can play World of Warcraft Classic when it comes out in August. Looking at refresh rates, response times, 1080p vs 2K vs 4K and that techno babble. I don't care as long as the monitor looks and plays nice. I have a Radeon RX 560 2GB video card. $300 is about my budget and I would like to buy from Best buy because I can just return it if there's a deal pixel. Can you all help me out? Thanks!

I can narrow down your three different resolution types you mentioned above (1080p, 2k, and 4k) by 66.7%. With the RX560 as your GPU, you'll definitely want a 1080p monitor.

I'll let someone recommend one of those because I haven't looked at monitors in a few years, so maybe someone here has and can recommend a specific model.

It looks good to me, but I always recommend people go to the store (when possible) to see monitors and TVs in person.

One person might think the display looks great, while another thinks it's not so good. Especially if you've never used an ultra wide monitor before, because people either love them, or hates them.

This is the updated version of the monitor I bought for my son a few years back. He games a lot on it, and he's always seemed happy with its performance (otherwise I'm sure he would have whined about it).

It shows in stock at Best Buy stores near me, so hopefully you can see it in person at your local store.

And here is one that has a faster response time, so if you don't like the Dell, it could be another option:

Coincidently, that first monitor you linked (Dell SE2717HR) is the same exact one my brother has on his computer so I've seen it first hand. My living situation is complicated but I stay in two different cities and often stay at his house where my second gaming computer is. My main computer has a Dell 27" S2718NX (it has some kind of weird Dell HDR technology) which looks better then the SE2717HR but not by much. I did just think about buying the SE2717HR for my second computer and calling it a day. However, I kind of what to move the S2718NX to my second computer and buy myself something a little bit better for my main computer.

If I buy a 2K or 4K monitor can I still run games in 1080p? From what I understand a RX 560 can still drive a 2K or 4K monitor but I just won't be able to play games at those resolutions right?

I'm having second thoughts about the LG 34" Ultrawide. I don't know if I want to spend $300+ on something that may be obsolete in just a few years.

You can run the game at a lower resolution like 1080p while gaming, but it might not look very good on a 2k or 4k monitor. That would be another thing I'd let someone who has done that chime in.

That does look pretty bad. Now I'm thinking I should just get the 1080p Dell SE2717HR for $140. I was pretty pleased with that monitor when I was setting it up for my brother so I would be happy with that. Guess I'll have to wait a few years when 4K video cards and monitors are more affordable.

By the way thanks for your help. I feel pretty good about what I need to do now.
