Hi, I want to upgrade to XP 1700+, but I'm not sure what motherboard to get. I would prefer one that supports sdram to keep costs down. I found the ASUS A7A266-E and was wondering if it was worth buying or not? Thx.

there's a really hot deal going on at newegg right now: the Epox 8k7a+ (kt266a chipset) for $69 shipped. it is refurbished, so you may be taking a slight risk, but this is one of the best motherboards out there for the athlonxp.

You can get the ECS K7S5a in Canada for less than $100, and it uses either sdram or ddram. You'll have to do a fresh install of windows (format hardrive) for the best results. Be sure you have at least a 300 watt quality power supply, such as sparkle, enermax, antec, etc. or any other brand on AMD's approved list. Check their website if in doubt. This mobo is picky about the ps.
