Looking for a Laptop

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a suitable laptop to buy for the upcoming semester. Primary use will be for programming, reading pdf's, and web browsing. The only real requirements I have are 9+ hour battery life and an ssd drive, and probably not being too large and bulky. My budget is $400-$600. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Also, looking by myself on Newegg, I saw a lot of refurbished laptops that obviously had better specs than new laptops in the same price range (for example this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834315380). How risky is it to buy refurbished? Most of them also had Windows 7, would that make a significant difference in security vs. Windows 10?

Thanks.

With your budget these Laptops will be good for you
ASUS F555 Series
Acer Chromebook 14
HP Pavillion 17
HP Pavilion x360

More portable, brand new (full manuf warranty) and this deal won't last long.

Yes it's a smaller SSD but you can always upgrade that yourself, in a few months 512GB should be around $100.

Remember to pay with a premium VISA, MC or Amex credit card for an extra 1 year extended warranty for free.

Wow, this one looks amazing. 256GB is actually plenty for me. Some people complained about the keyboard, have you used this one before? Probably going to get it anyway but just wondering.
