And it also has to be able to run age of kings conquerors.

I'd like to keep away from ATI, because they are the reason I want another card.

But, if it's cheap I may consider it.

/checks sysreqs of that game

Local bus video card that supports 800x600, 256 color resolution and 2 MB of VRAM.

Uhm ... Matrox G200? :D

If 2D quality is your bag, nab a Matrox G400/G450/G550 (increasing price and performance). If you'd rather have "3D potential" grab the Ti4200. But why so hateful of ATI? They're the middle ground I'd recommend.

GF4 ti 4200.

no offence, but that was a terrible reccomendation. nvidia cards are known to have terrible 2d output.

i agree with the matrox g400 suggestion. good luck finding one tho.

depends on the board maker you choose to go with
2d quality is fine long as they use quality components, which is not really nvidia's business to decide

i get fine 2d performance on any card i've ever owned
guess i'm lucky tho

eBay's always got plenty of G400 AGP cards floating around. Beautiful 2D on those, and Dualhead to boot on the better models.

"Best 2D Evar" award for consumer-level graphics goes to the Matrox G550 Dual-DVI though. Yowza. :Q

As mentioned, if you don't want ATI, go with Matrox, at least G400 (the Age of Kings requirement...). Though reagrding 3D performance you would be better with ATI.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I'm not quite sure what to do. I really don't want to spend a lot on a vid card right now. I'm thinking about just trying my Radeon AIW with the new tv card i bought.

But if my computer crashes one more time though while watching tv, or playing age of kings, it's outta. :|

Dude use Dscaler to watch TV...it's soooo stable. Don't even bother with the ATI MMC software. Dscaler gives a better picture as well. Good luck.

Dscaler works with AIW Radeon?

Last I heard it didn't.

If it does now work with AIW Radeon, that would be great.

Old ones yes, Ti series and up no. My Ti 4200 has wonderful image quality and DVD playback on a .25mm monitor.
