I'm a habitual water guzzler throughout the day, and usually use a plastic water bottle. I've heard that most of the containers today break down and release plastics into out bodies when we drink which causes all sorts of defects/diseases...

So... I'm looking for a bottle made of some other material. I was thinking of glass but I want it to be durable. Alum has been traced to Alzheimer's so that's out. What about Stainless Steel? Anything bad there?

Kleen Kantene
Stainless steel. Very good design.

It's good to use a reusable container, but personally I think all those plastics bad, aluminum bad claims are false. Do the research.

dont listen to the people who drink nalgene bottles. yes they are safe, but a Sigg bottle blows them out of the water! Sigg's are made of stainless steel or some type of metal and they don't have that nasty plastic smell that nalgene does

Siggs are made of aluminum and some say are lined with trace amounts of BPA like many other aluminum cans are.

Kleen Kanteens are made of stainless steel and do not conatin BPA.

Also, new Nalgenes are BPA free and do not smell.

I have the 25oz. Yes it is pretty big (wont fit in my cupholders), but I empty it fast, so i'm not sure the 12oz would be big enough. But it will keep the water cold for a few hours easily. Or hot things hot.

Forget the aluminum and Alzheimer's crap. A couple of decades ago one researcher found trace aluminum in a few Alzheimer patient's brains. That link hasn't been confirmed since. No one has since duplicated it, many studies have shown no conclusive link, and even if you ignore all of those, the original researcher HIMSELF didn't even show aluminum in many of the Alzheimer patient's brains.

Lets just even pretend that there is a link though to continue the discussion. Now, how much aluminum realisitcally do you get from a drinking bottle? Next to none. Plus, what you do get is aluminum oxide since the bottle will rust nearly instantly. You don't get alum (which is a potassium + aluminum + sulfate + water compound). And even if you did get this supposedly harmful chemical it is in trace amounts while you get massive amounts of it from the environment and from your own diet or dietary suppliements. It is like worrying about the US government's debt changing when the president drops a penny. If you want to get rid of aluminum, there are far bigger fishes to fry.

walmarts gone all bpa free with its bottles now.
they have the cheapest ~3 dollar bottles.

target has some nice thermos brand ones that have interesting designs, cost a bit more though.
http://www.thermos.com/Product...oryID=20&ProductID=943 auto pop up lid with silicon seal. 9.99
aluminum insulated is 19.99

no fancy folding/rotating/sliding straw/drink cap bits. those just are hard to clean/collect gunk if you put anything but water into them.
