Looking for a headset

So I want to buy a fairly decent headset just so I can voice chat when playing games. Im not looking for anything fancy, I want decent quality (no 5$ headsets) and I want to be able to hear people who speak softly. Price range is no more than 30$, I can do 35$ if it is an AMAZING deal for the price. What do you guys suggest?

Also, I ALWAYS wear my hat (winter hat) so I dont want headsets that have those plastic things that go over my ears. I like headsets with padding around the speaker.

I was looking at this:

I like the USB connector rather than the audio connector. But I honestly dont know if there is a difference in quality.

I'm a little bit confused by your post. You state that you're looking for a headset with what it sounds like are just flat foam earpads without earcups. Yet in the same post you reference a set of headphones that are of the earcup design. If you look at them closely you'll see that it's a ring of what appears to be memory foam that goes around your ear and does not sit on top of it.

If you're looking for non earcup style I would go with the Sennheiser PC131, Amazon has them for $33.
