Looking for a handgun. Between these two Beretta's, which one is better?

I'm planning to get a handgun for home defense and for some fun at the shooting range. Not really looking for a shotgun, so that's out of the question. So far, I have these two in mind:

Beretta 90two

and

Beretta Px4 Storm

I'm planning to get the .40 S&W version. Between the two, can anyone tell me their pros and cons, and your opinions on them? Thanks! 🙂

Go with the .50AE Desert Eagle. You'll have a bit more firepower in your hands. 😉

that's illegal in ca. u know it!

yet another reason why cali is stupid.

Yup. It would due the world a whole lot of good if Kali just fell into the ocean.

Man you live in CA and want a firearm. How crazy are you.

Move your butt to Flordia. 😉 Lowest crime rate since 71. Maybe because everyone is armed and if they use force to protect themself they don't get in trouble. There is prosecution immunity and civil suit immunity if it was a clean shoot.

In CA if you do waste Mr. Sucmbag. Mrs Scumbag is going to sue you for everything you have and then some.

I'll just waste her too, then. 😉

So anyone have a good opinion on these guns? Or should I just go for a USP?

If you're not stuck on Beretta, try a Sig P226. I fired one last weekend and it felt amazing. I believe there's also a compact version that's suitable for concealed carry.

Well, among the gun snobs I know, the only acceptable guns for any purpose are Sig, Glock, HK, and maybe select revolvers from S&W.

That's about right.

Beretta's are crude and overpriced, IMO.

And what makes you mooks think that the Desert Eagle .50 AE isn't legal in California? Surely you're not confusing .50 AE with .50 BMG, because there's a big difference.

Well the people that you know are idiots. I personally use what feels comfortable, shoots accurately, and is dependable.

Also, buying a 9mm as a first handgun makes WAY more sense then buying a .45, since ammo is half the cost, which leads to twice as much practice, making you much more comfortable and accurate with your firearm.

Anyways, out of those 2 particular guns, I'd have to go with the PX4 only to try something new. I shoot/carry the 92 at work and works perfectly fine.

Also, to the "italian made" comment, beretta is a 500 year old company.

I think you should shoot whatever you're going to buy before you spend the money on it. Lots of ranges rent guns, find one and try a bunch out.

There are a lot better guns out there for the money than the 92 and Px4. The 92 has always been a porker for its caliber too.

SIG, HK, and Glock all make far superior weapons.

A lot of people dont know the difference.
A lot of californians also dont know that law only made one gun illegal. The single-shot Barret. Everyting else was already illegal.
I cant fathom how Arnold thought he was helping the gun-lovers or the gun-haters. That law was so pointless.

I agree the Berettas are overpriced, but I've shot lightly-used 92'a and 96's and they're not horrible guns. The problem was in the Navy we learned to shoot on hand-me-downs from the army. Those things must have had a hundred thousand rounds put through them and only the firing pin and maybe the springs replaced every 10,000 rounds.
But a friend with a relatively new 92F showed me they can be decent guns. Though if I got one I'd need to swap out the grips with something slimmer. Too fat for my little hands.

The only reason for that is that Magnum Research hasn't submitted the .50AE to the DOJ for testing. You can buy a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum in CA which is a much more powerful handgun. You can also buy the DE .44 Magnum in CA.

Actually, it's easier to buy a handgun in CA than in some other states in this country.

Agreed. The Sig P226 or P229 are far better weapons.

Once you shoot Sig, everything else will be a disappointment.

BTW, I've owned a few Barettas. All were major disappointments.
