I looked around a little bit to see how budget cards perform in sli but there really aren't any reviews that I saw. More importantly the vast majority of benchmarks compare cards in a similar category. What I was wondering was whether I'd get better performance from two low end sli cards, or spending twice the ammount on a single card???

When given that choice, ALWAYS go for the single card.

Less heat generated and less power consumed.

If you want to play newer games later this year/next year, you can always add a second card for SLI.

Buying two cheaper cards right now locks you into that performance level until you replace both.
