Looking for a good SSD.

Yep, I finally got money! Lol

I'm aiming for a 500GB+ drive, and it honestly can't be smaller smaller than a 480GB drive.

I'm looking for best price/performance with an emphasis on performance. I've got $250 to spend.

The $240 500GB 850 EVO on newegg is tempting but I could always spend extra money on games. If the ultraII is within 5% performance I might go there for $213.

I will be using windows 8.1, then upgrading to 10 once it comes out.

I will be using the SSD for games and OS pretty much. Nothing will be logging to it except one program that writes 2mb word files 2-3 times a day. Nothing big. I probably read well over 100GB a day though.

Thanks.

I learned a lot this last year -- even the last three years -- about how to use SSDs. The Sammy Pro drives are marginally better than the EVOs, but I don't think it matters much or at all. The Crucial MX100 was just as good -- I acquired two 512GB units this year. And if you want the Samsung caching feature, you can get a good or better alternative for it which will cover configurations with SSDs and HDDs without any proprietary limitations.

I just installed the 850 evo in my system, OS drive , seems very nice so far. was using the 830 before it without issues, just wanted a bigger one. went with the 500 from amazon. its cheaper vs the egg

After reading some reviews and you guys saying that I don't have to go samsung, I think I'll go for the ultraII. It's dropped below $200 on NCIXUS.

Thanks guys!
