I know some people have used automotive paint for their cases, but I am not sure I want to go that far. I am looking to mod my case a little and give it a new coat of paint. Any suggestion, tips, tricks, etc would be appreciated.

Dust wipes off with a cloth easily and if you want a high gloss shine.....use Gloss Black or any Gloss color to do it.
You can also buy clear coat in a can from the same places or in an arts and craft store. That will enhance the gloss.
All my systems have a mirror finish black paint job. At night, they seem to suck light into themselves. During the day, especially in sunlight, the look like a smoked mirror.
When painting them, you have to have a good area with very little to no traffic to stir up the dust. I paint things in my basement. Granted, not the best ventilated, but it is like a crypt. Dry and slightly cool, like 65F all the time. No humidity either.

Not sure where you are located, but I am willing to do the painting for you. No charge other than shipping both ways...
Otherwise, you might want to find a different place to do this.....a balcony is going to blow too much stuff around...even on a calm evening. Never do painting outdoors.
Even if you have a friend with a garage. Throw some newspapers down and grab a windex bottle full of water and lightly spray the area to keep any dust/dirt away. The water will cause it to settle to the ground instead of floating....

Spray the water up in air and left it settle to the ground. I didn't word that very well. The newspapers are for clean up afterwards of course (don't want paint on his garage floor)
Good luck and let us know how it turns out
