I just started working, and what i'm doing is taking graphs from paper and digitizing them. The problem is that grid lines, etc interfere with the line following program. I was just wondering if anybody had any good filters for removing gridlines but keeping the graph intact or just highlighting the graph line, or a line following program. Thank you.

Depending on the color of the grid lines, you may be able to use a copy machine to remove them before scaning.

I had a Digital Signal Processing class two years ago, where we used Matlab and a bunch of formulae to filter out grid lines from graphpaper and horizontal lines from regular ruled notebook-paper. Don't remember squat anymore, though :(

i'm working for my dad's friend. and it's really not that bad. i get paid well and i only have to work like 10 hours a week so i can go to school and have fun still. (i'm in highschool). the grid lines and the graph line is the same color and usually the graph line is a touch thicker than the grid lines. i could upload an image if you need to see what i'm talking about.
