I'm looking for something that's relatively in-expensive but good quality.

My (3) runner up's are:

1) Canon SX30IS

2) Panasonic DMC ZS-10 (Review)

3) Olympus SZ-10 (Review)

I'm looking for $200-250 max preferably, I know that the camera's I listed are slightly above this range, but I figure I can find a good deal on a used one.

I want good quality, I think out of the 3 the SX30 is the best? I don't want to do DSLR b/c I'm not a pro I just want to take some decent photo's here and there and really, the SX30 is very good but it might be a bit on the 'large' side for what I'm wanting. That's why I started looking at the other 2 on my list.

Which would be best from my list and which would you recommend over these 3??

Indeed it looks very nice and pretty much what I'm looking for...small, great pics it seems, and some very nice features.

Only problem I see is that it's almost $400. =/ Ebay has a used one for $375....I can finally use QVC and get it for $380 w/ 3 easy payments of $126 though, lol.

 the sx230 is $299 on amazon.

Meanwhile, the sx30 you listed in the op is closer to $400.

ahh so it is! I checked ebay again and its $297-300 there...so, I'm not sure what I was looking at...maybe b/c the one that I'd checked had a 16GB card with it? I dunno. I know why QVC is more expensive, lol...that's pretty typical.

I would definitely get it from Amazon if I pick one up. Seems like the best deal..at least so far. ^_^

Walmart has them for $328 - no waiting for shipment.

True...I'm not in a big rush for it anyway though so, saving money would be key. I will, however, stop by and see if I can look at it at either Walmart/Best Buy today if I can.

Any of you personally have this camera?

Check out the Canon Talk forum on dpreview.com. You'll see quite a few threads from owners, and sample pics.

I've been considering the Fuji FinePix f550exr. It seems to be quite nice and awesome in low light.

Most $200-250 cameras take good day shots and have 'standard' features like a wider focal length (28mm), HD video and image stabilizer. The main difference seems to be whether you prefer a longer zoom or better low-light performance (faster aperture). I prefer the latter since P&S cameras are generally pretty bad in low-light and the built-in flashes are not very flattering. I like the Canon SD4000 for around $220.

Yeah, I was really surprised. I hadn't been considering Fuji at all. The guy at the Wolf Camera (who actually knows what he's talking about) suggested it. It has the flash where your other hand would go, but most of these P&S cameras are designed with one hand shooting in mind.

When I checked it out, it felt heavier in hand than the others, solidly built. May or may not be true, but it was a first impression.

Manual controls and RAW capabilities made me like it even more. I like to play around with settings sometimes, so I like that.

Yea, I thought so.

If you look at the images taken with each camera on Amazon though, I like the way the Sony's turn out...they have a better exposure it seems? (not a camera guy here, lol)

I find sample images online too hard to make comparisons with. Can you go to a camera shop or store that has both and take pictures of something in there? Then it's a true comparison as for photo quality.

I'll probably go this weekend again and try out a couple of things in the shop.

yea, I just want to make sure I get something good and I'll keep for awhile. So I'm liking the Fuji F550, the Sony HX7/9V, and the Canon SX230HS. the 9V is slightly out of my range, but it sports the 15x zoom...the F550 is close to the 9V for $50 less, so I think it's going to be between those 2 for me b/c I would like the max of 15x zoom just in case I need it, but I could deal with a 10x zoom if I had to I'm sure.

I need to find a good camera shop around here somewhere, I don't actually know of any so I haven't went into any. Walmart/BestBuy demos don't even turn on half the time much less take a pic (due to know cards being inserted).

Wolf/Ritz camera? or a local shop? My Wolf Camera seemed to have decent prices and the guy said he'd work with me to get me the best price. You might try that. Of course, I'm sure this varies. The Wolf Camera closest to my house sucks and I intend to not go into it ever again if I can help it.

Since editing can fix minor things easily, I prefer to try and find out which takes the sharpest, most detailed pictures. I can't fix that near as well as I can fix contrast or saturation.
