I am having trouble finding a good trivia IRC script. I found one but the questions are really dumb and obscure and my friends don't like it. I'm looking for something with better questions and that keeps track of and displays scores and all kinds of goodies. anybody help? thanks!

all your links forward me straight to the egghelp.org main page, but I am intrigued by that. there's a lot of text in there but can you give me the gist of a shell account? can I do this instead of leaving my server connected to IRC with the chatbot running? is it easier/cheap?

thanks again

Interesting. Wonder why it does that...

Some shell providers are cheap, some aren't. Basically you get a user account on a unix/linux machine. It'll be connected to the net 24/7, and you can run a number of programs on it. Including eggdrops (bots), bnc (bouncers), and other fun stuff.

i think i'd like to do this for sure! can you point me in the right direction to get it started (like a provider that is really inexpensive, this is for a hobby-type thing so I'm not looking to invest much)?

thanks!

if you dont know what a shell is an eggdrop isnt going to be that fun to setup or run. what irc client are you using? there's plenty of mirc trivia scripts, i'd recommend those.

It's a good way to learn. I learned a lot. :)

SelArom: I haven't paid for a shell in YEARS, so I'm not sure what providers are still out there. Google a bit. If I remember any sites I'll post them.
