Looking for a good FPS GAME

Hi guys. If anyone has read my post before you'll see that I'm pretty new to the PC gaming scene.
I was speaking with a fellow gamer and he was saying not all FPS are equal. Some you just gel to others you just don't get. I'm playing ghosts online in TDM and squads at the moment which I'm liking, but it got me thinking are there better FPS out there so I could try. So I'm open to any ideas, but remember I'm really new using a KB+M, well I'm using a Razar keypad as I was told it's a lot better then a KB.
So if you know of any or are playing any and could help an old guy like myself to be better at FPS, then just post your replys here.
Cheers

Well, Counterstrike Global Offensive is cheap and its deathmatch with bots is a good primer. Beyond that, personally I really like the FEAR games and the STALKER games. The mechanics are good, the stories are good, and the games are good.

Another vote for CSGO. Battlefield 4 would also be worth your time if you're looking for a military shooter.

For single player, Wolfenstein: The New Order has the best plot and single-player gameplay of any shooter in the last several years IMO. STALKER is good, but much more RPG than straight-up shooter. With mods it can be downright brutal with realistic firefights and conditions.

If you don't mind multiplayer-only and a bit of a learning curve I'd recommend Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm. It's a WWII shooter but it's extremely team based. Squad leaders mark targets for the commander to call in artillery, and a good commander will be issuing orders a lot of the time, directing the battle as much as possible. If you run around on your own looking for something to shoot ala CoD you will die, a lot, and you won't kill anything in the process. The weapons are realistic for WWII, and the combat is much more about positioning and tactics than twitch reflexes. One hit can easily kill, two hits will definitely kill. But the teamwork can be great even on public servers. The learning curve means the IQ of the community is above average, and the team with the best communication usually wins. That said you can play without a headset, but a headset makes the experience much more pleasant.

STALKER is kind of brutal if you just getting into FPS games, you might want to get a bit more experience with the KB+M setup before you hop into that game.

I love STALKER games but they can be buggy and esoteric. I find Borderlands games pretty well done and fun. The games are very imaginative and free flowing. If you want to do some involving quest you have that. If you just want to roam and snipe you can do that. You don't have to spend 6 hours figuring out controls, menus etc. I had Borderlands on my Steam account for 2 years before I played it. Now its almost two years since and I cant stop playing lol

Find a old school Q3 deathmatch server and get good with the railgun, once you do this, all others will fall before you. You mention team play, sadly unless you have a dedicated group PC gameing ins much like console, nobody understands TEAMWORK. I am a huge fan of LFD2 with a good group on some setting past normal (advanced at least) very fun if you dont do the standard run as fast as you can so there is no real fight, but move at a steady (team work required) pace. That game will teach you to count on team work if the idiots who fall behind or rush ahead dont rage out on ya non stop.

Right now you can buy Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for like $4 on steam. It is not the best FPS, but it is fun, and for the price it is hard to beat.

New to KB/M , CS:GO will teach you real quick how to use them right! Not to mention a little steep learning curve, but you'll catch on if you get a good server.

And also vote for BF4, ton of fun, also can be had fairly cheap right now.

Farcry 4 is a lot of fun as well for a single player experience.

And steam is the best place to find some real gems when it comes to any games, so see what your friends are playing and what people on the boards here recommend.
