Looking for a good driver set for the GF3 Ti 500

Started with the default 21.83s and upgraded to the 23.12 when the drivers were in the 40s because the general consensus on tweak boards etc was that "newer" drivers would actually run slower than the 23.12s which were supposed to be the best speed match for the GF3 series since later driver revs contain calls that the GF3 couldn't use anyway, thus "bloating" the driver and slowing older cards down... This is something found on benchmarks on video tweak sites...

But... I have a new program ("Lock-On" - it's a flight simulator), and the older drivers are making the clouds "black". I'm assuming a new driver set will cure the problem though I'm unsure of the perfomance hit I'll get when I go to a newer driver set...

Any advice here/comments? Anyone running a GF3 with a "new" driver set (in the 50's)...???

Caveman,
I`m running the latest official drivers 53.03 drivers with my very old GF2 Ti in my backup PC,l prefer to use them since they have the latest bug fixes and to me that`s more important then performance ,however I`ve not really notice any slower performance with the 53.03s.

I would suggest you try them since you can always uninstall and try a different set later, besides starting with latest official Nvidia drivers is not a bad place to start ;).

Btw you might want to try Driver Cleaner ,that`ll remove any old Nvidia driver files so ensuring that you should get maximum performance and stability when you install the new ones.
