Anyone have any suggestions for a good small digital camera that I can buy an underwater case for? I'm just getting padi certified and I want something I can use out of the water as well as while im diving.....
as an underwater photographer, i recommend seeking advice from scubaboard.com. Check the photography section. If you're only going to be diving a couple times out of the year and are just looking to take some quick snap shots, nearly any canon will do. If you are seriously considering making a hobby of it, i advise you to take your time in reaching a decision. Personally, i use a canon s70 -- which is one of the few non "professional" (SLR level) cameras that shoots in RAW mode and has good housing support. As most people who do UW photography will tell you, RAW mode is a must for getting professional quality shots. It will allow you to adjust your whitebalance after the shot using something like photoshop. This is the big difference between ordinary shots and really good looking shots... proper white balancing.
i'll leave you w/ my gallery... i hope you enjoy and maybe it will inspire you pickup this fine hobby and create a gallery of your own. I have only just started so i am still learning but i think you'll find what i said to be true.
