Grand Nagus help me? It's actually for my mom who is a real-estate agent. By the way, her laptop has firewire capability.

Canon A40?

Sigh

In my whereabouts all I can get under 200 is a Powershot A200. It obviously isn't as good as the A40 of yours which is in the ~280 area. What a freaked up mess with this!

I got no idea, I don't have it yet. Probably a very bad camera. The A40 they say is a lot better :(

And what do you think about the A200, RossMAN? Does it suck? There are no coupons here.

If you had to choose, which is better, higher megapixels or optical zoom?

I've been looking for a Camera, and thats usually what it comes down to...

BTW, is it possible that there would be dead pixels in a digicam? What would it look like? Black spots, whatever?

kevin, the Sony fanboi's will be in here soon to give you the lowdown.

Booster, I think it's possible to get dead pixels in the viewfinder but you're more likely to get dead pixels on an LCD display/laptop than on a digicam (IMHO).

probably will. I've got good use out of it but still looks brand new. in fact, never took that clear plastic thing off the lcd screen on it. :)

That Nikon 2000 looks nice but kind of heavy. Ideally, I want a Canon S200 for $200 and under...

The Sony Mavica FD75 is on sale at OfficeMax for $199.99.

If your mother is as clueless as mine, this is probably perfect for her. 640x480 resolution, uses floppies, and it's a Sony.

My aunt sends email pics that are like 2100x1600 resolution. :( I've tried to tell her to adjust the setting but those old gals want to point and shoot.

I'm thinking about picking up one of these because I like easy photos too and floppies are still dirt cheap. ;)

BTW I don't know of any digicams which use FireWire, they all use USB or removeable media (CF, SM, xD, Memory Stick).

Camcorders use FireWire.

What about the new Canon A300? Seems like a pretty nice little camera for around $170...
