Looking for a good detailed guide....

Hiya.

All my new parts for my first build are almost here 🙂

Im looking for a good guide to guide me step by step on what to do.

Things like putting all the parts into the case, installing the OS, getting drivers, and basically getting a newly built PC up and running.

Stuff like, at what point in the build do I partition, install drivers, work with bios, etc.

Also what kind of things you do to test your machine to make sure everything is working as it should.

What files are the first to be installed on yournew system (3dmark, Sandra, etc,)?

I found one on ocforums.com, but am looking for additional guides to suppliment it.

Also If you happen to have tips on what sort of preparation to make so Im ready when all my parts are in front of me, its appreciated.

Thanks alot!

These are good hardware setup guides, does anyone have any guides on Windows disc setups? Specifically, the question I'm always wondering, what is the best way to use 2 hard drives in a Windows system? like good examples of partitioning best-practices or suggestions on what is the best utilization of two drives of different sizes or speeds, or IDE & SATA together?

I've searched through the forum and found _some_ info on this but I'd love to find a good guide on it. After all, plugging things together isn't that hard, it's the planning and best uses of the hardware that new builders need most help with I think.

Best there is - Read all the posts in all of Anandtech's forums for about 2 years..........
